Entertaining and educative at the same time
Jean-Louis
from Rockville, MD, January 31, 2007
It's been almost three weeks now that I've had this software and I have to admit that I got smarter without any pain. The graphics are good (not the best) and the images are very entertaining. The geographical information available is wonderful for just an average learner (like me) with interests in geography. I just wish that it would zoom at least to the city level. Beside that, it's like having the world in the palm of your hand.

Must try the Trial Version First
A reviewer
from Reston, VA, November 27, 2006
Use the trial version first, to see if this product lives up to your expectations. I was very disappointed with the graphic quality and the inability to zoom closer than--in my case--the whole of N.America. There's no detail at all. The GPS is fun but useful only if your driving from DC to LA and want to see your course from a high orbit above earth.
Still, it's a fun little program to play with, but really has no pratical use on my Axim X30. Clearly some reviewers are quite pleased with PE. Maybe it's better on newer PPCs.
So try it out. What you see on your own PPC is what you get.

A real disappointment
Hon. Lord Knowle, KT
from Corfe Mullen, Wimborne, England, July 22, 2006
Had a go with the demo, and after getting very frustrated with it, couldn't really see the point of the program, and that was after countless faults. The icons on the base toolbar don't really explain what they do and the Help file doesn't come up with anything to point you at the right direction.
Wimbourne Minster (UK Town) is spelt wrong for a start (which does annoy residents like me if the publishers can't even research the town info properly!)... it should be Wimborne (no 'u'). The program also appears to have no facility to home in a chosen default town/city e.g. Wimborne, in my case.
The program tries looking for the GRPS signal on a COM port which my Vario MDA doesn't support ... even though you said it would work. It also means that if I am using my device on wireless to my broadband link, the updates don't work.
The weather updates didn't work ... just came up with a load of error messages.
The program wouldn't zoom in very far, so England remains a tiny map area which doesn't allow distance mapping to work effectively.
Nice try, but I think I'll have a look at some of the competitive products.
